Set up checkout monitoring on a WooCommerce store

Tutorial: configure Formitor's synthetic checkout, a scheduled $0 test order that proves the page loads, the order completes and the confirmation email arrives, then deletes itself.

July 18, 2026 · Formitor

A broken checkout is a broken business, and it fails silently more often than forms do. Formitor’s checkout monitor places a tiny $0 test order on a schedule, confirms the order completes and its confirmation email is delivered, then deletes the test order. The store admin is never emailed about it and no payment is ever charged.

The setup in under a minute:

Opening the settings

On the site’s row, click the cart icon (Checkout monitoring settings). Four things to set:

Checkout monitoring modal with the key fields highlighted

  1. Monitor this site’s checkout: the master switch.
  2. Checkout page URL: usually /checkout/.
  3. Test product ID: create a product priced $0 in WooCommerce, set it Private so it never appears in your shop, and paste its numeric ID (hover the product under Products, or read post=123 from the edit URL).
  4. Cadence: how often the full order test runs. The checkout page is health-checked every ~10 minutes regardless (no order placed); the full order + email test runs on this slower cadence because each one consumes an order number.

Works with WooCommerce today; Fluent Cart and SureCart are coming (SureCart has an extra opt-in because its platform emails a TEST-labeled order notice Formitor can’t suppress).

Reading the results

The Checkout row above the form list shows the three stages: Page loads, Test order completes, Order email delivered.

Checkout row with page, test order and order email stages

Any stage failing flips the site’s card and fires your alert destinations, exactly like a form failure.

Why $0 and Private

The test product never shows in the shop, costs nothing, triggers no payment gateway, and the completed test order is deleted after verification. Your sales reports stay clean; your order emails are verified with a real end-to-end order anyway.

Catch the failure before the client does.
